Synopsis of Frenzy (Book One):
After the world was ravaged by a viral apocalypse, Blackwater is one of the only colonies that remains. The survivors came together to create this safe haven. Nestled between a fierce river and a city’s flood wall, the well-being of its residents hangs on a long-established treaty with the night-walkers. Sounds simple enough, but lately, the people of Blackwater have been dying, and the humans believe the night-walkers are to blame.
Porschia Grant starves for more than her parents’ affection. Forced to enter the rotation, she will be given extra food rations in exchange for becoming a vampire’s breakfast and dinner for a week. The rotation has an extra responsibility as well: leave the colony and enter the dangerous forest to hunt for food. A night-walker will protect the hunters from the infected that roam the woods. But with the treaty hanging in the balance and tension between the humans and vampires rising, anything could happen in the darkness.
What would you do if your only chance at survival might kill you?
Let me start by saying, I’m only up to book three in the series (there’s five) and I’m obsessed! You know that feeling you get when you don’t want to go to bed because you have to know what happens– well this series will give you that feeling.
It’s a refreshingly new take on Vampires and Zombies. To call it that is just degrading because what Casey does is weave this interesting plot that keeps you craving answers. In the second book we get all different point of views and it really comes full circle. I’m halfway though the third book and PLOT TWIST!! Just when I thought I had it all figured out! Dive into this book today, you won’t regret it.

The Red Queen
By Victoria Aveyard
The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.
To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.
Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.
But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?
First of all can we all have a moment of silence for the beautiful cover. Now, I’m a firm believer in less is more because this cover is absolutely gorgeous!
(Totally judging based on the cover right now, but it paid off)
Victoria had me at red and silver blood– like what?! Mind Blown!
You follow Mare who was born a red blooded peasant with nothing to look forward to but dying in the silver bloods battle
With a crazy turn of events she displays powers of her own and she even ends up in the running to be a Princess.
Victoria blew me away especially for this being her first novel! I’m completely hooked and anxiously awaiting the next book… very impatiently!
♥♥♥♥♥ – 5 shocking stars 🙂
When kids awake on an island, they’re told there was an accident. Before they can go home, they will visit Foreverland, an alternate reality that will heal their minds.
Reed dreams of a girl that tells him to resist Foreverland. He doesn’t remember her name, but knows he once loved her. He’ll have to endure great suffering and trust his dream. And trust he’s not insane.
Danny Boy, the new arrival, meets Reed’s dream girl inside Foreverland. She’s stuck in the fantasy land that no kid can resist. Where every heart’s desire is satisfied. Why should anyone care how Foreverland works?
Holy Inception Batman! I found this little gem off of Goodreads and I’ll tell you I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. I don’t even have the words to describe it. Just know that you have to read it. It’s crazy and twisted and it will keep you guessing and thinking long before you stop.
♥♥♥♥- 4 stars check out this bad boy!

♥♥♥♥♥- 5 stars for keeping Sheena up at night!
The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The ‘tributes’ are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory.
When 16-year-old Katniss’s young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. , she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
I read these books in a weekend after I saw the first movie. (Yes one weekend, barely any sleep… I needed to know what happened) In honor of the third movie being released I re-read Mockingjay to refresh my memory. I loved this series. The Hunger Games themselves was a brilliant refreshing new idea that struck a cord in me. Book 1 & 2 had me flipping pages, by Mockingjay I found myself a little disappointed that Katniss kept hiding in a closet and shying away from all the action. It’s understandable any normal person would probably have PTSD or something, but this is a work of fiction! Man up and Mocking-Jay the crap out of the capitol already!
Also, the ending. I didn’t feel fulfilled. I wanted more closure. But I still give it an A+ for originality and capturing all my attention, I must have watched the first movie a zillion times. (literally)
♥♥♥♥♥- 5 Stars! Must read especially if you loved the movie! the books are of course so much better 🙂
Synopsis For Maze Runner:
If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers—boys whose memories are also gone.
Nice to meet ya, shank. Welcome to the Glade.
Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out—and no one’s ever made it through alive.
Everything is going to change.
Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.
Remember. Survive. Run.
Okay, if you haven’t heard about this series you must be living under a rock. With the movie being released I figured I’d hop on the bandwagon and see what all the fuss was about. I’m damn glad I did!
The way the author built up the suspense, the fear of the unknown– it’s indescribable. The way the characters reacted to situations was so believable, raw, and real. It’s just awesome how they came up with their own slang & how the whole story played out across the three books was just genius.
Needless to say, I devoured all three books within a week. (( I’ll get around to the prequel soon))
#TeamTeresa all the way.
♥♥♥♥- 4.5 stars. (.5 star reduction for my statement above^ .. you’ll have to read them to find out)
A small memento, a universal power… It’s the year 2126, post-World War V. Leda, age seventeen, bounds through the lush forested region of the Desintor Foothills as a regal, bow-wielding, High-Elf Scout. That is, when she’s logged into her favorite MMO game: Renaria.
One crisp fall afternoon, an unseasonal storm fractures the sky of Trinton, New Texas with splinters of emerald lightning and otherworldly songs. Oddly, no one sees the storm except her brother and their guild mate Travis.
She brushes off the event as a fluke, but she can’t seem to get the song out of her mind. Suddenly, a new quest appears in her game directing her to the blue sand dunes of the Sinare Desert to meet Caleb, a legendary Elf Diviner.
Now she has a choice: Ignore the quest and turn off the game, or dive in and risk everything for a shot at an adventure.
Wow, just wow. The way the world of Renaria comes alive across the pages is unbelievable. I envy the imagination it takes to create something like that!
It’s set in Earth’s distant future you follow a set of twins and their friends as they play a seemingly harmless video game. The first thought that came to mind when I was reading, this is the Digital futuristic version of Jumanji.
I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but the story follows Leda and her brother Alex on their mysterious and twisted journey to Renaria. They experience and learn things they thought were only fantasy. They develop and grow as their video game characters would (super cool right?!) but the stakes are higher than they could have ever imagined.
♥♥♥♥♥- 5 stars! Can’t wait for the next one!!
